Copyediting

Discovery call
We start by jumping on a discovery call. We’ll talk through your goals, audience, and tone of voice. This is my opportunity to learn more about your business and find out how I can work with you.

Proposal
After our call I will send you a proposal document called a ‘Statement of work’.
This will explain the scope of the work, timeline and the fee.
First draft
Once you have accepted the Statement of work I get to work on your copy. The first draft lands in your inbox (yippee), ready for your feedback.
Sign off
You review the first draft and send any feedback. Two rounds of revisions are included as standard. Once we’re both satisfied I send my invoice.
“Our tone of voice had been inconsistent for years. Within a few weeks we had a guide the whole team could actually use and our comms have felt so much more joined-up since.”
– Rachel James
Questions I often get asked
Can you work to tight deadlines?
Yes, press releases and urgent comms can often be turned around within 24–48 hours. Just let me know when you get in touch and I’ll work out what’s possible.
Do I need to provide a brief?
Not necessarily. Usually a short discovery call is enough for me to get started. However, larger pieces of work can often benefit from a brief.
What’s the difference between copyediting and proofreading?
Copyediting looks at structure, clarity, and flow. Proofreading catches errors in spelling, grammar, and punctuation. I offer both, either separately or together.
